Covid Update July 2020
THIS IS (NOT) THE END
After lots of careful thinking, I am not going to be reopening the barn for printing classes for the time being.
It's important to me that my classes are friendly and relaxed and that students feel comfortable and able to access the teaching and resources. Current distancing and safety regulations, like compulsory mask and glove wearing, not being able to provide refreshments or allowing shared equipment will impact the atmosphere and effectiveness of the classes. I'm also concerned about the booking and cancellation processes while things remain so uncertain, making it difficult for students to commit to sessions far enough in advance to make running them viable.
In addition to this, from January I will be taking maternity leave and so will be having a break from teaching for much of 2021. As classes will be pausing then and given the current covid backdrop, I have decided to stop running printing classes now.
This isn't quite how I'd planned to slow the business down and I say all this with a heavy heart. I've enjoyed teaching so much over the last 7 years and want to thank each and every student and Print Club member who has been through the doors. I hope you continue to print and find ways to be creative even during these strange times.
Of course this isn't really the end, and once things have settled down, I hope to return to teaching and will undoubtedly spend much time dreaming up new courses and ideas. I'm also using this time to develop the Mini Screen-making side of the business - more to come on that later.
2020 CREATIVE CHALLENGE
In the meantime, I'll be keeping the blog going with printing guides, ideas and projects. From Monday 20 July, you can take part in this summer's ABC Creative Challenge - creative ideas and prompts to nourish your inspiration.
This year's challenge encourages you to get out the Art supplies you already have, Boost your creativity and maybe even Collaborate with someone (socially distantly or online). It's time to sharpen your pencils and get ready to start!
If you’re subscribed to the newsletter, I will be in touch soon with further updates from the farm, but please do drop me an email if you have any queries, are the recipient of an unused in-date gift voucher, or if you're interested in purchasing printmaking supplies or second-hand equipment (as I have a few items going spare).
Thank you once again for your support over the years, it's been a real pleasure 😊 Please do stay in touch.
