Printing Open Day

I’m throwing open the doors to the barn for the first Printing Open Day. If you’ve ever wondered what goes on at Slamseys, now’s your chance to come in, have a look around and have a go at printing.

You can watch printmaking demonstrations and have a go on the printing presses to print your own postcards and bags. There will be an exhibition and prints for sale from tutors and students, as well as useful printing supplies and kits.

WHERE IS THE OPEN DAY BEING HELD?

The Open Day takes place in the Barley Barn at Slamseys. There is plenty of car parking as you enter the site, and then you can walk round to the barn.

WHEN SHALL I VISIT?

It depends what you’re interested in seeing! If you want to watch Print Club members in action, come by between 10 am and 12:30 pm to chat to our printmakers and see what they’re working on. They’ll be working on their own projects and covering a range of processes.

If you’d like to have a go at printing yourself, come between 1 pm and 3:30 pm to watch a demo and then have your turn on the presses. Visitors will take part on a first come first saved basis, so make sure you’re there at the start.

If you’d like to have a chat with Ruth about coming on one of the printmaking classes, visit during the morning or between the demonstrations, as I’ll be more free to talk.

And if you’d just like to have a good look around, we’ll have artwork on the wall, prints to buy, a display of student work and sketchbooks for you to view, so come by anytime between 10 am and 4 pm.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

It’s free to come along, ask lots of questions and watch the demonstrations, but there’s a small fee (between 50p-£6) if you want to make some prints while you’re here.
